Held on April 23, 2026.

Speaker: Stan Berger, private psychologist.

The meetup opened with Stan Berger introducing attachment theory as a map for understanding adult intimacy. He outlined secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized styles, stressing that these are not labels but learned strategies for getting closeness and safety.

Berger explored how attachment patterns show up in conflict, communication, and partner selection. He gave examples of anxious–avoidant dynamics, where one partner pursues and the other withdraws, each reacting to old fears rather than the present moment.

The session included a self-reflection exercise: recalling a recent relational trigger and identifying the underlying attachment need. Berger also discussed how therapy and secure relationships can gradually change attachment patterns.

He concluded that understanding attachment styles reduces blame and increases compassion — for oneself and for a partner.
